Krafty Kuts - Freakshow

On October 9th Against The Grain invite you to join them and the breakz-creating-funk-magician Krafty Kuts, as they release his debut solo album 'Freakshow'.

'Freakshow' boasts an impressive list of collaborators, including Dynamite MC, Tim Deluxe, Dr Luke, Theo, Bespoke and it perfectly showcases Krafty's passion for pyretic party music in all of its forms, from juicy disco breakz, to old skool electro and hip hop.

From the dripping acid strut of the album's first single 'Bass Phenomenon', (recorded alongside Tim Deluxe and featuring Freakpower legend Ashley Slater), to the 'slap the cheeks and ride the waves' booty bass of 'There They Go' - 'Freakshow' is a gumbo of musical styles. 'Keep Moving' mixes Yolanda's epic choral laments with a bassline reminiscent of Adam F's 'Smash Sumthin', 'Summer Samba' is a breezy Sangria-sipping offering, while 'Freakshow' sounds like Prince making love to a vocoder and 'We Do This' has the sort of grimey, pig-sty bassline, that'll leave head-nodders with whiplash.

"This LP is a more mature sound for me," explains Krafty aka Martin Reeves. "It's organically funky, taking all my musical influences such as latin, hip hop, funk, disco and electro and creating a modern flavour with it's roots in breakbeat. It used to be that ten years ago if you were into hip hop; you just held your balls and couldn't like anything else. But now it goes hand in hand with drum and bass, breakz and house. If you go to Fabric you can hear a massive mixture of styles that are all breakbeat oriented and I wanted to incorporate that attitude in my music. I want my music to stand the test of time and for 'Freakshow' to be an album you can listen to any time, any place."
