Layers of Sound and The Demetrios Project chat to I Like Music

Layers of Sound Belonda and Demitrios

After the success of debut release 'Mission', which featured on the Ministry of Sound Housexy International album, Layers of Sound Recordings now bring you their follow up release, 'Thanking You'; a gloriously dreamy vocal house track with old school keys mixed with cutting edge production, featuring the considerable vocal talents of Bilonda Mfunyi-Tshiabu & Demetrios L. Demetriou.

The package includes hot new remixes from talented producers Jed Set & U-Ness (Soulheat) and Mr Fuzz (Independance) whose Jackindabox Electro Club mix will feature on the next Ministry of Sound Housexy album, mixed by Rich Murray, out now.

I Like Music caught up with Demetrios, Belonda and producer Mike to talk about Thanking You, getting on the Housexy compilations and the sound of Layers of Sound.

ILM: So, how does it feel to get a track on the Housexy album?

DEMETRIOS: Second time around. It feels an accomplishment, a real achievement, a surprise. Mike, Belonda and I have been working for a long time and injected a lot of energy and effort and it's been an uphill struggle, as you know, and getting on a Housexy compilation was wow, an achievement, but second time around just goes to show that someone out there is listening and feels we're worth it.

MIKE: It's great to get these in a row, so hopefully things are building and we're getting the name out there and hopefully people will start to recognise it and pick up tracks.

BELONDA: It's quite amazing, a really fulfilling feeling. It's been a long hard process. We've all put a lot of effort into it, and it all came from ourselves, there's no big company behind us pushing it. So it's truly amazing to see it on such a big label.

ILM: How would you describe the sound of Layers of Sound?

BELONDA: Layers of sound is deep, musical. We have similar tastes in music and like vocal soul music. We are focusing more on the music and also focus more on the vocal. A lot of tracks in the dance genre are instrumental, not like a song, our tracks are songs in their origin with a verse, a chorus and a bridge and the vocal is the main focus on our tracks. Vocal would be a nice way to describe our sound altogether.
