Leisure Allstars ft Hollie G - 35 Summers
35 Summers is the soaring new release from Bristol's Leisure Allstars, an epic, string-swathed 21st Century slice of electronic music featuring Massive Attack collaborator Hollie Grant.
The low-slung groove and undulating bass perfectly lock down the track while the strings and haunting vocals express the song's motif of making the most of time as it slips away.
Ripping the original's fine tailored suit from its body and squeezing it into a poppers-drenched pair of skinny jeans and slapping a five-gurners smile on its face is the banging bassline house mix from the usually much more sedate Substatic. The rework pulls the original from its comfy seat by the fireplace and pushes it straight into the mixer on the dancefloor, where its careworn worries about the passage of time are subsumed under one of the fattest basslines of the year and put firmly in their place.
Not content just to DJ alongside Europe and beyond's best minimal house and techno DJs at his highly successful Buoyancy club night, Lukas shows his burgeoning talents as a remixer with his Drink and a Quick Decision mix. Slinky, driving, emotive, deep and dubby is the sound, taking the original far away into brand new territories.
The Leisure Allstars have previously been featured on compilations by Nightmares on Wax's DJ Ease, Azuli, and respected German label Unique as well as picking up strong radio support from Ninja Tune's Solid Steel and 6 Music's Craig Charles.
35 Summers have worked with New York MCs The Good People and vocalists Lady Chann, Yolanda and Lizzy Parks on their debut album which is expected early next year.
