Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson

Hot on the heels of two packed out and heady performances at The Great Escape and Stag & Dagger, Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson announces the release of his new single Woodfriend from the acclaimed debut album, available from 13 July 2009

Having completed sessions for XFM and Absolute (where he scored Single of the Week with first single Buriedfed) as well as support from Zane Lowe and Jo Whiley at Radio 1, Miles' self-titled debut was also named Rough Trade's LP of the Week.

Woodfriend, with its clanging guitars and stomping drums, recalls the street tough and strung-out attitude of a '70s Lou Reed. Miles' broken voice wails about hazy nights over an array of rocking beats, guitar and feedback: "And it was okay, And we were not wasting anyone; Every word I say is a bad cliché; Hey we were not having any fun"

With the support of Brooklyn's finest including Chris Taylor and Christopher Bear of Grizzly Bear, and his ultra champion, Kyp Malone of TV on the Radio, MBAR is making his mark with a debut album of soul-scarifying, raggedly glorious songs. New York has been sadly lacking a proper troubadour looking at the stars while mired in the gutter - but in Miles, we have our man. New York's best kept special secret is finally out and about in 2009
