Austin Texas' much-feted garage rawkers White Denim are up for being voted into the Best New Act category at MTV Europe Music Awards. Our humble Texan trio are going up against the likes of heavyweights Duffy, Foals, Katy Perry, The Last Shadow Puppets to name a few.
In other news White Denim release their latest single, Shake Shake Shake through Full Time Hobby. White Denim continue their thunderous riot to the top with the release of this ridiculously addictive third single, all with the acclaim still ringing in their ears for what is undoubtedly one of the debut albums of the year in Workout Holiday.
Shake Shake Shake has all the urgency that marks White Denim apart from the turgid blather of many an alleged 'rock' band and is sure to be one of 2008's stand out singles. With the crazed cowbell and grinding bass kicking in, it "has everything you could ask from a two-and-a-half-minute party starter" (Observer Music Monthly 5/5). It also lifts up and away into a different realm around three quarters of the way through and is topped off by the Monks-like chanting/singing refrain of the three members in the best display of call and response in years. Ready, steady... "Hey…!", "Say what…?"
