Andrea Corr chats to I Like Music
ILM: So you stepped up to the challenge.
ANDREA: Yes.
ILM: How are Sharon, Caroline and Jim?
ANDREA: They're great. They're really good. They're babytastic! Caroline has three and Sharon is pregnant with her second and Jim and Gail have a little boy. They're pretty full on manic mummys and daddys at the moment.
ILM: Your voice is beautiful, as are you…
ANDREA: That's nice. Thank you.
ILM: At Netaid at Wembley I remember you lifted your hair up and started singing and there was this collective gasp from the audience at your beauty. (Sorry to gush but it has to be said) How do you keep yourself and your voice in shape?
ANDREA: To be honest I'm not great at all those things. I have a real lust for life. I find it sometimes decadent not to do bold things. And how do I look after my voice? Well, for touring, I'll go to a lot of steam rooms if I can in hotels and use ginger and lemon, so I suppose just that. Luckily I have a good appetite and what I eat is generally healthy.
ILM: You have a natural gift for lyrical storytelling. Can you describe the Andrea Corr process of making music?
ANDREA: More often than not, I'll start with the piano. All the songs were written on the piano, so I'll start playing the piano and then I'll like some chords that I start playing and the way they progress together and then, with that, I'll start singing a melody and then with that I'll start singing some nonsense and words and then something will come out that I like the idea of and I'll develop it.
ILM: Any tips or advice for budding artists and producers starting out?
ANDREA: I suppose my advice would be that your focus should always be on what you're creating and not on the incidental parts of it, like celebrity and fame. Even for a person's own fulfilment, they should know they're creating this themselves and that they're worthy of it, because in an awful lot of cases, if your focus is not on the right thing, it's quite destructive for the person, because they just can't cope with what comes, because they're not worthy of it, because they didn't work for it.

I Like Music because...
Mat, ReCoup: I Like Music because…it makes life worth living.
Jared Piccone, Innerpartysystem: I Like Music because… I've been trying to figure out why I like music my whole life. What is it about a group of sounds put together that can move me like it does? How does that happen? Why does it NEVER GET OLD? It boggles my mind. As long as I can remember I've been playing my favorite songs in my headphones so loud it f**king hurts. And it never gets old. It's still my absolute favorite thing to do. Lay down, and listen to whatever I'm feeling at the time, as loud as I possibly can.

Adam, Hurts: I Like Music because…it's literally the only thing that I know. When I remove it from my life I feel like I've got an empty personality.

Lupe Fiasco: I Like Music because... It gives me a chance to escape and reach people I wouldn’t ordinarily be able to reach. And without music the world would be kinda quiet.
