Carl Cox chats to I Like Music
Back in 1988 Carl Cox played on three decks for the first time and became The 3 Deck Wizard. He was part of the many defining moments that have made up the history of UK club culture, and had his first hit in 1992 with 'I Want You'.
Carl Cox is a legend, someone who's always been at the forefront of dance music and has led the way. And, anyone who's been at a night where Carl Cox has been behind the decks will remember it fondly. He's certainly one of our favourite DJs of all time!
I Like Music caught up with the man called CARL COX to talk about the new remix of I Want You Forever, his first gig in the UK for three years at Heaven this April and how dance music has changed over the years.
"I Like Music because… it gives me a sense of well-being and happiness." CARL COX
ILM: Carl Cox vs Yousef - I Want You (Forever) - OUT now, remixes from Yousef and Deadmau5 etc of the 1991 classic. I remember that from the first time round when I saw you at Central Park in Portsmouth on 3 Decks - Spiral Tribe with MC Luck, Thirsty Kirsty and Luke Slater… WHAT A NIGHT! How has dance music/DJing/clubbing changed for you since those early days?

simon f baker: ilikemusic because... you can transcend the confines of the material world with it, it's probably better than shagging in fact. There is virtually nothing more satisfying than when a load of chords and words suddenly come together into a song ; suddenly everything in life seems to fit and make sense once more.
Dave: ilikemusic because... Without it there wouldnt be a Global Gathering
