The debut album Peaceful The World Lays Me Down by Noah and The Whale is a collection of beautifully crafted, touching, original songs with a folk-indie edge that points towards sunny orchard walks, thought provoking conversations and gentle foot tapping. Lovely. Charlie Fink is the talented man behind the collective. Having just produced the Nationwide Mercury Music Prize debut album of former band member Laura Marling, he shows no signs of slowing down, constantly looking to evolve the live set up of Noah and The Whale, whilst taking their music across the globe. We managed to catch up with Charlie for a quick chat about his inspirations, the state of the world, and the music he likes.

ILM: The lovely single 5 Years Time is out now from your album Peaceful The World Lays Me Down. Can you describe the vibe of the album?
Charlie: It's an optimistic but realistic look at love, death and time. People who have heard the album seem genuinely suprised because it is a little bit darker in places than people would initially think.
