Stereo MCs chat to DJ Yoda for ilikemusic
The Stereo MCS have taken over ilikemusic.com for one week. We're best known for our live shows, remixes, UK Hip Hop beats and Acid House vibes. So, as part of our guest editorship, as well as interviewing ourselves, we caught up with another genre defining UK Hip Hop veteran, DJ Yoda, to talk about his November tour, vibes, visuals and guilty pleasures and to get answers about naughtily unplugging everything before our set at Bestival.…
STEREO MCs: So, new tour for November planned. What are you dropping in your set?
DJ YODA: As always, I'm just going to play whatever I like! I feel really lucky that I'm the kind of DJ that crowds know to expect the unexpected with - I can't think of anything worse than being expected to play one genre of music only. As long as I'm playing it in the "style" of hip-hop, then I think anything good is worth playing.
STEREO MCs: Were you a DJ before you started VJ'ing?
DJ YODA: Of course! I don't even see myself as a VJ really - as VJs just provide visuals - I always DJ, it's just that sometimes I scratch video too. I've DJ'd for around 15 years now - only been seriously messing with video for about 5.
