Manic Street Preachers & Forever Heavenly
Forever Heavenly - A weekend festival celebrating 18 years in the life of Heavenly Recordings
Manic Street Preachers play a very special one off gig as part of the Forever Heavenly festival at Southbank Centre in September. The band plays only the six songs they recorded for the Heavenly label, now in it's 18th year, prior to signing with Sony in 1991. The gig, which also features Doves and Cherry Ghost, takes place at Royal Festival Hall on Friday 12 September and is the band's last live commitment before going into the studio to start work on their ninth studio album.
In addition, throughout the 3 days Heavenly artists past and present will perform one off sets in the unique surrounds of the 3 Southbank music venues. As well as ticketed gigs in the main rooms, bands and DJs will perform free gigs in the spaces inbetween (such as the lobby of the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Ballroom of the Festival Hall). Expect stadium-sized special guests alongside acoustic troubadours, the odd Sunday Social stalwart and those who are just Forever Heavenly.
Over the years, Heavenly Recordings has been home to artists from Saint Etienne and Manic Street Preachers through to Beth Orton, Doves, The Magic Numbers and Edwyn Collins. Heavenly also ran the Sunday Social club night, which has since spun off into the hugely successful Social bar in the West End.
