Benedict D. Mahon Esq.: ilikemusic because... the wardrobes stop barking when the bass kicks inInternational rock band The Magic Numbers performed an uplifting set at Union Chapel in Islington, London for charity Crisis. The band also brought along friends Fanfarlo, David Kitt and Coastguards who all played to raise awareness and funds for the tens of thousands of hidden homeless1 people in the UK.
The packed line up kept music fans entertained all evening with many musicians offering a diverse mix of songs. Also performing were rising stars and extremely talented Nadeem Leigh and Steve McBrayne, who having experienced homelessness, are keen to inspire and motivate others to get behind Crisis' campaign.
The intimate concert called for support for many people approaching their local authority as homeless - particularly single people without dependent children. Magic Numbers frontman, Romeo Stodart said of the gig: "I think the Find the Music, Expose The Truth campaign for Crisis is a great idea, especially in these uncertain economic times. I was shocked to find out how little government help there is for hidden homeless people. We really enjoyed doing our gig for the charity, and will hopefully raised a lot of awareness and funds by bringing together people through music."
Crisis Hidden Gigs is a series of London-based events which have been happening throughout May and June and are a fantastic opportunity to see top acts in intimate, unusual spaces, making for a unique musical experience. The big twist is that the venues remain hidden until 24 hours before the gig, when a text or email message will be sent to the ticket holders revealing its location.
The Crisis Hidden Gigs series continues with Noah and the Whale on 24th June. For tickets and further information visit www.crisis.org.uk/hidden.
