Once again the Mexico City underground has delivered another electronic masterpiece by the one-man dynamo project that is Camilo Lara of the Mexican Institute of Sound. 'Mejico Maxico', originally released on the Spanish label Lovemonk in 2006, is an infectious blend of cha cha, electronica and cumbia music inspired from traditional Latin music.

With only the help of his computer, nurturing imagination and amazing collection of vinyl 'Mejico Maxico' has delighted and surprised many a listener and in addition has hailed Lara a super hero by the underground musica movement not only for his eclectic Latin
beats but also because of his alter ego lifestyle.

By day Lara works as the head of EMI Mexico but by night he emerges as the conveyer of what can only be described as small, pretty electronica works of art. A true icon of the city as well as the underground 'Mejico Maxico' is just another example of the diverse blend of musical references from the 1920's through to the 60's, which portrays a unique impression of the hustle and bustle of life in Mexico City.
