The Cat Empire Live Dates 09

Determined to retain the title, the guys are pulling together their ever-entertaining troupe to return to Europe, with the announcement of 18 shows for this summer season.

The Cat Empire, who had been on a seemingly never-ending international tour, spent 2008 closer to home. It was a well deserved break after the previous year of touring which saw them tick off some major career milestones; performing on massive USA entertainment shows Letterman and Leno, playing Glastonbury Festival, Bonnaroo in the USA, and Summersonic Japan, and releasing yet another multiplatinum album in Australia and wracking up another 184 live shows in the year.

There aren't many bands in the world who could lay claim to 666 shows in a 7 year career. But Melbourne group The Cat Empire, won't stay at the lucky 666 milestone for long, playing their 700th show while in Europe in July...thus clawing their way to the title of the Australian band to have played live to the greatest number of people this decade.

Famous for the energy of their live shows, in the first ten days of sales, The Cat Empire sold over 1500 tickets to their Shepherds Bush Empire London performance, and quickly announced a second show. This record sales rate indicates The Empire is in for a big tour in July when they return to Europe for the first time in over a year and a half. All shows for the run are expected to sell out early.
