As Duffy's timeless pop classic was crowned the hit song of 2008, south London production team The Third Degree hit upon the idea of recording it again, but this time with the proper 60's soul sound the track deserves.

Featuring big heavy horns, a driving funky beat and a crisp and clear soulful vocal, it's what Mark Ronson would have done and Duffy should have done. Originally released by iconic east London label, Acid Jazz as a strictly limited edition 7 inch single in March, the record hit number two in the indie charts before being picked up by the Tri-Sound team as their debut release.

This modern take on a classic soul sound encapsulates the ethos of Tri-Sound, the new label founded to showcase the best in contemporary soul music.

A three track CD featuring single, extended and instrumental versions are available from June 29th 2009 with download version available now.

Mercy picked up key support from Radio 2, 6Music and BBC London on its initial release.

Tri-Sound are currently lining up further releases this year - more details of which will be announced shortly.
